If you’re still trying to get the attention of the big time producers, let me give a little advice. A lot of musicians trying to ‘make it big’ will spend a lot of money, time and effort (that they probably can’t even afford) to spruce up their demo CD covers, make the wrapper look professional, even try a gimmick to get noticed. But hey, these are the big guys, trust me they have see it all.
Music companies are never going to base their decisions on you because you have a fancy CD cover or because you are dressed in the latest and most expensive fashions.
They are going to give the chances to the guys and gals who come in with talent and share their passions for music straight from the heart. So I really hope that you younger generation musicians just be yourselves.
You might make it big, or you may be spend your nights playing small time gigs in your local town. Either way you have been true to yourself, not waste thousands of dollars trying to impress someone with your flashy clothes or guitars. Hopefully you’ll learn, it’s never about that.
Let me tell you straight, if you have the talent, it’ll never matter what you are wearing. Think back to Kurt Cobain and how the grunge style made a kick in the door entrance with their shabby flannels and unkempt hair. And because they had the talent and musical genius, half the kids in America still dress this way.
So don’t worry about your fashion influencing your music, think about how your music may influence fashion one day. Keep on keeping on, but stay real to yourself the whole way through and you won’t be disappointed!
