Myspace Online Music Promotion

There is no doubt that today’s generations have a much more vast taste in music. The younger generations are no longer ashamed to admit but proud to say they love the old school music their parents grew up listening to. Indeed, the younger generation has likely been introduced to that very music by their parents in the first place. But one thing that has changed irrevocably are the methods available to promote bands. Instead of racks and racks of vinyl records or tall plastic racks of CD’s there are now hard drives everywhere filled with personal music collections. I’ll admit my own is several.. many… well more than double digits in gigs of music and videos I’ve collected over the years. Never mind that I give it the same reverence we all gave our record or CD collections. Except now I don’t freak out on someone if they scratch my CD, now I just keep an external drive for all of my music because I’d possibly need therapy if some virus destroyed my hard drive with my years of music collection on it.

So see how much things have changed? Well one thing that has changed even since its very recent inception is MySpace and its capabilities it allows the young musician to get the word out and promote their music online. Many artist have gotten some of their notoriety from MySpace. Linkin Park, Alicia Keys and newer artist like Florida have all successfully promoted their music online using MySpace and MySpace Music web sites. Albeit these artist were famous without MySpace but with it they have reached millions in record time.

One key thing to do with your MySpace online music promotion is to search out peoples profiles who enjoy the kind of music you produce. Send them a friendly, not a robotic looking invitation. If they allow you to friend them, actually send them a message. I can tell you from experience that a lot of MySpace users will remove users from their friends list who they never hear from. Try to be a friendly presence on your MySpace music page and you are sure to generate more fans than you ever would without it.

I got the cool idea for this article from here!
