Online and Offline Music Promotions

There is no doubt that the competition in the music industry today is as stiff as it gets. So in order to save yourself some time go ahead and commit to the fact that it’s going to be rare for you to find a rare way to promote your music specifically. And just as you can imagine, unless something about your band is rare, it’s lying amongst millions of other tunes in competition waiting a very specific search engine search to bring it up and introduce it for the first time to someone seeking a new tune from an independent musician.

You have to remember that offline or online music promotion is the same as marketing. Unless people know about a product, service, or YOUR music, they are not going to buy it, use it, or listen to it. Since as a band your fans are the most important aspect of promoting your music, you must have a way to build those fans before you plan on playing anywhere but in your garage. Although there are hundreds of ways to promote your music online such as Facebook or MySpace Musicians pages, never underestimate the power of regular old school promotions.

Get an artistic member of your band to draw a nice logo for you. Put that logo along with your bands name, web site and the location, date and time of your next gig on every legal surface you can find in your town for promotions. Grocery stores, pool rooms, convenience stores, lodges and even civic locations in your town likely have corkboards for people to advertise their businesses. These can be great places to put your bands advertisement as well. This may be a bit more costly than using the free online music promotion software and social networking sites, but it will also give you a good start at a fan base that can actually come to your gigs and hear your music live.

I got the great idea for this article from here.
