Sonic Producer Negative Review

So, I’m going to be straight with you, and present to you an internet first, a negative review of the beat making software Sonic Producer.

But first let me say, I don’t mind giving an unbiased review of sonic producer. In fact, I did a pretty neutral review of it on my site. It’s called Sonic Producer Reviews – The Good and The Bad, and I even point out who would really enjoy this program (yes there are plenty that would). Despite this entry, maybe it’s my bad mood right now, I usually don’t like bad mouthing a program that others seem to get joy out of.

But, man, this program really rubbed me the wrong way.

I know there are a lot of positives with the software, but if you’re looking for a strictly negative review of sonic producer, here are 10 things I didn’t like about the online beat making tool:

  1. On the sales page, the beat that gets pumped through the demo video is so freaking loud. It literally blows you away. And not in a good way. The beat is distorted as crap!
  2. Bought the program. You need to save the ID and password page because there is no other login page you can get to from the main menu. Not a big deal, just annoying.  Keep all that info handy. Trust me.
  3. Got the up-sale once I purchased Sonic Producer. Not bad, and I don’t really want to consider that part of my sonic producer negative review, but it just adds to the list.
  4. Opened the sequencer, excited to make my first beat. I have to say, it’s really really easy to use. But there’s a few quirks with selecting beats. You can’t audition a beat without actually selecting it. It makes auditioning beats a really long process.
  5. If you are browsing for beats and decide you don’t want one, you can’t just escape out to the main sequencer page. You have to select a beat. Minorly annoying.
  6. When I played my beat, maybe it was just my internet connection, but I couldn’t get the beat to play consistently at all. The beat would stutter or slow down in the sections where I had a lot going on. Then speed back up for the other sections. Makes trying to hear your beats hard, and trying to record beats while your beat is playing nearly impossible.
  7. I mixed my track once I had a few instruments in, and saved it online. First, you are limited in the tracks you save online. Not a big deal, so I bounced it down as an MP3. Sure enough, it sounded distorted once I opened it on my computer. I went to mix it quieter, and when I tried to bounce it down again, it wouldn’t save as an MP3 at all.
  8. I restarted my computer, thinking it would solve the issue, and when I reopened my saved project, all the volume moves were gone. Sweet. And there were tracks missing.
  9. I bounced another track down, but it didn’t bounce to MP3. I tried again and again, but it hasn’t worked since. I’ll play you the started track I came up with so you can hear what I mean about being distorted. This is about 10 minutes worth of work…

and 10. I emailed support about the issues I was having. It’s been days and there 24 hour or less support still hasn’t written me back.

Take what you want from that information. Again, I don’t want to make it sound too bad because there are others that use and really like the program. But you wanted a negative review of Sonic Producer so, hey, I gave you one.

If you want to see it for yourselves, go to…

Feel free to use the beat listed above for any reason you can think of. It’s yours! I would love to have finished it…
