New Social Media Sites For Bands…

Even though there isn’t an effective social media site that works wonders for bands, people are still at work trying to crack this mysterious code. One of the new sites coming about this spring is Beat-Play.

Beat-Play in a nutshell lets you friend people (a la facebook) that you share common musical interests with. Once your friends with a person, their saved music gets sent directly to your radio player. You audition the songs, and if you decide to save them, the music automatically gets sent to everyone you’re friends with for them to audition.

If your music is good, it’ll spread like wildfire.

The service is free, and is made to get the word out fast about good music. Here’s what the site says about itself…

It’s like iTunes without paying, and for independent artists, Pandora but with your friend’s playlists, Pandora without obtrusive ads, Ebay for music, FYE but online, Virgin without the long lines, TheSixtyOne.com minus the games and way more functionality, SoundClick.com plus innovative free promotion and without the fees, Facebook for All of Music.

Definitely sounds promising, set to come out spring 2010
