Are you looking for a decent software to make music videos?
Check these out. They’re simple to use, and they wont break the bank. They can create jaw dropping music videos just using pictures, music and video in almost no time at all. Here’s how I rank them:
1. Animoto -
Animoto is a music video making software where you upload your music, pictures and video clips, add text and click GO and let animoto work it’s magic. It’s fast, easy, and makes awesome looking videos. I have to admit, this software for making music videos is my favorite. Here’s a example of what this music video software can do:
The Pros:
- Can try the software for free.
- Graphics/transitions look amazing
- The software is hosted over the internet, so you don’t slow your computer down.
- Can create HD Videos, which you can even get DVDs of
- Has different levels of subscriptions, including the option of paying for one upgraded movie
- Can include video, pictures and text
- Can upload your own tracks
- Easily uploads to youtube and other sites
- Can add a button to direct fans to a website after the music video is over
- Can download multiple qualities of the finished music video

- Can edit the song to start from which ever point you choose
- Can make a music video in about ten minutes start to finish, that look awesome

The Cons:
- It is a yearly subscription
- Don’t have the ability to fine tune font size and colors, yet
- Sometimes certain pictures are left out because of lack of time in the music video
- Can’t edit the music as much as other movie making software
Ease of Use 4.5/5
Quality of Product 5/5

Enjoyment Factor 5/5
Total 19/20
Overall, I had the most fun using this product. You have to be a little creative when you use it, but the results are pretty impressive.
Note for anyone in a band:
If you’re in a band and you’ve decided to commit to the new way of marketing yourself online, this is a great way you can build relationships with your fans by using a music video software like the ones mentioned in this post:
During each show, take as many pictures as you can, especially of the fans. If you can get a decent mix of any of the songs you played that night, upload it, as well as the pictures to animoto or muvee reveal (if you can’t get a decent live mix, just use a song off your album). Be sure to add in some text commentary about the show, the city/venue and the fans, create the “show recap music video” and send it out to your mailing list. It’ll give people a great look into the show they went to or even better, show them what they missed. Either way, you’re interacting, building something good with your fans, and it’ll keep them interested in your band.
2. Muvee Reveal
Muvee Reveal 8 is another great software for making music videos. The main difference between this and Animoto is that this software you install on your home computer, Animoto is web based. The software is very similar to Animoto, but actually gives you much more control over setting and options of all the elements involved in your movie. This is a both a blessing and a curse seeing how it’s great that you can customize your material more, but it also takes you much longer to do so.
Here’s a sample movie made with Muvee Reveal 8:
The Pros:
- Software makes really good quality movies
- Way more manual control with the settings, running order, and captioning
- Can make HD movies, and has a wide variety of export options
- You have the option of showing placing a logo graphic throughout the movie
- Easy uploads to Facebook and YouTube, as well as export features to iPod, mobile phone, and Sony PSP
- Can change the color of the background in the beginning title page and the credits page at the end
- Can try the software for free for 15 days
- Can upload your music, or use some demo music they provide
- Software does a great job of highlighting the beat of the music you choose
The Cons:
- Windows PCs only
- Has its quirks, like the instant preview can be flickery
- Exporting the final movie can be time consuming
- Making a movie takes a little longer to make

Overall, Muvee Reveal 8 is a decent program, recommended for those wanting to get a little more into their music video creations, but still aren’t ready to dive into a movie making software like Final Cut Pro. It’s price is in between the basic and pro level of Animoto, so if you’ve tried that and want a step up, this is definitely the way to go.
